Welcome to the NIIED Global Advancement Institute.

This center is an English education training institute affiliated with the National Institute of International Education under the direct control of the Ministry of Education, which was established and opened on July 31st, 2014 as part of the「Special Act for the Establishment of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province as an an International Metropolitan City ('09.3)」.

In order to support the Global English City‘s common use of English, we operate「Resident English Classes」. In order to support the national economy, reduce the number of students going abroad, and strengthen public education, we operate the「Young Global Leaders Camps」. In order to foster the abilities of public school teachers nationwide, we provide「Teacher Training」. In addition, we have the responsibility of promoting the development of English education in Korea by developing English education policy research and programs for the advancement of English education.

Especially, we work with offices of education from around the country to operate teacher training programs which utilize the natural and cultural heritage of Jeju through hands-on experience programs. At the same time that we are building a new paradigm in English education, we are also making it our priority to provide English education to underserved areas such as schools from remote areas. We are making sure that as many students as possible are able to enjoy the benefits of an English education.

In the future, the center will continue to be faithful to its responsibility as a national Global Advancement Institute, and will do its best to develop Korean English education as well as to fulfill its function as a hub for English education in Northeast Asia.
